plynth

A real music tracker, built for the Steam Deck.

Not a desktop app with controller support patched in. Every screen, every edit, every performance move was designed for a gamepad first. If you know the M8 or LSDJ, you already know Plynth. If you don't, the app is designed to be easy to use and will have you making music in minutes.

Launch day and the big milestones. Nothing else. Your email is used only for these updates. Unsubscribe anytime.

Plynth, running on the Steam Deck. A whole studio in your hands.

WHAT IT IS

Plynth is a tracker: you write music by entering notes and effect commands into a grid of patterns, then chain the patterns into songs. It's a fast workflow with deep roots, from Amiga trackers to LSDJ and the Dirtywave M8.

What's different is the reach. Plynth packs a full modern studio, a deep synth, sampler, modulation, and effects, and every screen is built for the gamepad. All of it on a battery-powered Steam Deck you can take with you anywhere.

Plynth's Song screen: sixteen track columns of pattern references with a colour-coded song map showing the arrangement at a glance.

INSIDE

SAVED
Never lose a take. Continuous autosave, crash recovery, and atomic saves. Your work survives a dead battery, a crash, or a Deck that went to sleep in your bag.
SYNTH
16 synthesis engines: virtual analog, FM, string, percussion, chord, granular, swarm, modal, and more. Plus blendable wavetables. BLEND crossfades banks, SCAN sweeps the frames, and you can import your own Serum-compatible wavetables. Built on the open-source Plaits, by Mutable Instruments
FX
Three insert slots per instrument, from a deep pool of effects: reverbs, delays, drives, wavefolders, and more, plus ladder and vowel filter modes with drive. Three LFOs, a mod envelope, and velocity routing reach into all of it, in full stereo.
SEQUENCE
16 tracks, 255 patterns, 255 song rows. Per-row note, instrument, velocity, and three FX lanes. 20+ pattern commands, and a 16-step table running under every triggered note.
GROOVE
Swing and section repeats. Dial in the pocket with song-level swing, and set any row in the arrangement to repeat, so a section can run four or eight times without copying it out. Build intros, drops, and long-form songs fast.
SAMPLE
Record straight from the Deck's built-in mic, or import mono or stereo WAVs from your SD card, and slice kits across semitone keys.
MIDI
Sequence your hardware: notes, CC, clock, transport. Sync to an external clock, map knobs with MIDI Learn, and export standard MIDI files.
PROJECT
Build a whole album. The project view organizes, sequences, and plays your songs as one body of work. Your next EP or live set, with cover art you add or let Plynth generate.
